The pearl of the Pacific Despite being one of the major ports of the Pacific Coast, Ensenada preserves the pleasant atmosphere of a small Mexican town. The weather is mild all year around and her protected bay offers several attractions to watersport fans. The beautiful Todos Santos Islands, only 10 miles offshore, are a world famous diving location and a surfing hot spot. Ensenada is also the last port before over 800 miles of wild and deserted Baja coast. |
|
Alien view of Todos Santos Bay The bay was discovered over 400 years ago by Spaniards and named Ensenada de Todos Los Santos. It took them 162 years to establish the first permanent settlement. Now Ensenada is a growing tourist destination and the largest county in the world. |

How to get to Ensenada Ensenada lies about 60 nautical miles South of San Diego. By car, it is just one hour drive from the Mexican border. To get here, hit either freeway 5 or 805 South. Past the border in Tijuana, you'll find indications for the Ensenada Cuota (Toll Road). The highway (in very good shape) goes from Rosarito to Ensenada and offers a truly spectacular drive by the ocean. Don't forget to stop at El Mirador, a parking area from which there is a magnificent view of the bay. |
